Papermaking is deeply rooted in Bhutanese culture and tradition. Whereas this craft used to be practised on a small scale at home, paper is now produced in Bhutan in a small factory, entirely according to traditional methods. The main raw materials are the bark of the Daphne Papyri tree and the Edgeworthia plant, both of which grow at high altitudes in the Himalayas. The result is an exceptionally strong paper that is suitable for a wide range of creative and professional applications and is also 100% environmentally friendly, thanks to the use of only natural fibres and dyes.
