Cotton paper has been manufactured in India for over 2,000 years and is renowned for its high quality and durability. The paper is mainly made from recycled cotton fibres sourced from waste streams from the clothing and paper industries; new cotton is only used for white sheets. Cotton rags from all over the world are brought to India, where the fibres are cleaned, cut to length and processed by hand on scoop frames into strong, flexible and soft sheets that are ideal for writing and printing.
Hemp paper is made from the fibres of industrial hemp (Cannabis sativa with a very low THC content) and is one of the oldest and most sustainable paper raw materials in the world. Hemp grows quickly, requires little water and hardly any pesticides, making this paper particularly environmentally friendly. Thanks to its strong fibre structure, hemp paper has a long lifespan and is ideal for high-quality and sustainable creative purposes.
